If you’re scheduled to see your oral surgeon in San Diego for a tooth extraction, you’re likely to have a few questions about what to expect. Both normal tooth extractions and surgical tooth extractions, like wisdom teeth removal, are simple processes. This video explains more.
For a typical tooth extraction, your oral surgeon will numb the area around the tooth and gently remove it. You won’t feel pain, though you will feel pressure during the procedure. For a surgical tooth extraction, your oral surgeon will first administer the anesthesia that has been chosen for you before removing the tooth. Since a missing tooth can cause dental health problems in some cases, your oral surgeon may discuss dental implant and denture options with you. An exception is wisdom teeth, which do not require replacements.
