BOTOX® Treatment in San Diego & El Cajon

As we age, we may suffer from many concerns, including cosmetic ones. These days, when patients are plagued with lines and wrinkles on their face, there is no longer any reason to worry, as we now provide BOTOX® treatments throughout the San Diego area. Whether the wrinkles come from stress, worry, age, or simply excessive exposure to the sun, BOTOX® can help smooth the lines on patients’ faces without surgery. From the lines between the eyes to creases on the forehead, BOTOX® Cosmetic has provided truly dramatic results for countless clients in recent years.

How BOTOX® Works

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an agent injected into the skin, which then either diminishes or eliminates wrinkles and lines on the face. This works by relaxing the facial muscles under the skin through what is called botulinum toxin type A, which is a bacterium-produced neuromuscular toxin. BOTOX® Cosmetic utilizes the toxin in a highly diluted form and has been FDA approved as it has been proven to be entirely safe. While often used alongside facial plastic surgery procedures, BOTOX® Cosmetic can also be used on its own. Our BOTOX® treatment is fully suitable for many patients, as it has been approved by the FDA for patients between the ages of 18 to 65. As the procedure lasts no more than 10 minutes and involves only a few injections, we find that most people are candidates. Of course, we recommend you come in to speak to one of our oral surgeons to determine if the treatment is suitable for you.

What BOTOX® is Used For

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections have a wide range of uses. As mentioned previously, it is often used in conjunction with more extensive facial surgery procedures, but can be used to treat so-called “crow’s feet” and to reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles. The protein inside BOTOX® has many other uses, such as treating excessive sweating, chronic pain, or jaw tension. However, it is primarily used for cosmetic procedures such as these.

Why Choose an Oral Surgeon for BOTOX?

Most people link BOTOX® treatments to plastic surgeons; however, oral surgeons have a unique advantage when it comes to administering BOTOX® injections. At the Center for Oral and Facial Surgery, our team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons has been rigorously trained not only in medicine, but also in dentistry. This means they have spent many years focusing on studying the intricate aspects of the face: From the structure to the muscle groups, oral surgeons have a deep understanding of many issues other medical professionals may overlook. For example, we best understand what your lips may look like post procedure, and are best qualified to understand what the relationship between your teeth and soft tissues are, and how they will be affected. As a nonsurgical procedure, combined with our team’s deep knowledge, we are uniquely qualified to perform the BOTOX® cosmetic procedure to restore your face to its natural youthful state. Give us a call to make an appointment at one of our two convenient locations today—we look forward to hearing from you.
